7th brehmergroup TECH-DAY – Resilience through Innovation – Develop. Safeguard. Sustain.
TECH-DAY has become a firmly established tradition at brehmergroup. On 17 September 2026, we once again invited guests to our TECH-DAY at our site in Nümbrecht-Elsenroth. This year’s event was held under the motto “Resilience through Innovation – Develop. Safeguard. Sustain.” We now employ 130 people across three locations and are a direct development partner and supplier to international industry.
Our expertise can be found in trucks, buses, passenger cars and motorcycles, as well as agricultural, construction and industrial vehicles, right through to military vehicles and defence equipment. Accordingly, one of the key focuses of our TECH-DAY 2026 was the specific challenges facing “brehmerdefence”. These include resilient and local supply chains, ensuring security of supply over a period of 30 years, sourcing electronic components in Western Europe, reverse engineering, small production volumes, obsolescence management, extreme technical requirements and cybersecurity.
Company founder Thomas Brehmer reported that our patented products, which have now been approved by the Bundeswehr, are creating up to 15 jobs at regional service providers commissioned by us. For security reasons, the production locations were not disclosed. Under the direction of Colonel (Reserve) Martin Häckl, our guests were also introduced to the topic of “Security for All of Us”. Lieutenant Colonel Jan Pitzer explained in his keynote address the challenges involved in building up the Bundeswehr in connection with the necessary infrastructure.
Further technical presentations focused on technological issues. Prof. Dr Tobias Krawutschke from TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences and Dr Michael Gude from Cologne Chip addressed the challenges involved in the redevelopment of microprocessors. Our colleagues Noah, Head of Controlling, and Christian, an expert in electromagnetic compatibility and the approval of defence equipment, rounded off the programme with their contributions.
One of the highlights of the day was the range of vehicles and technologies on display. Our electronics developer Kevin presented a “hands-on technology” jointly pre-developed with TH Köln, Gummersbach Campus, which can specifically detect movements of the hand and fingers. We see the motorcycle sector as one potential field of application. Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen presented its Formula Student Team as well as a new ultrasonic short-range sensor developed by bachelor’s student Finn Mourik. The start-up envecotricity, a spin-off from Jade University of Applied Sciences led by David Schoone, presented a new drive concept featuring a water-cooled axial-flux in-wheel motor, as well as an electric motorcycle with a replaceable battery system developed in-house.
Other exhibitors included Innosafes with a mobile protective wall and the French company Insolem, whose prototype aerial drone attracted considerable interest. The “NATO-Oldies” from Hesse brought their fleet of vehicles to the Oberberg region, giving visitors the opportunity to experience military technology at first hand. Catering from the field kitchen and the “Manufaktur” provided plenty of opportunity afterwards for discussions, making new contacts and exchanging ideas about potential collaborations.
This year, the TECH-DAY was extended to a second day for the first time. This additional day was primarily dedicated to our suppliers, providing an opportunity for face-to-face discussions and to further strengthen our collaboration. At the same time, our employees and their families were given the opportunity to view the original vehicles on display. These provided a clear illustration of the various applications in which the products and services developed and manufactured by Brehmer are used. We are also planning to adopt this two-day format for our TECH-DAY 2028, which will coincide with our company anniversary.
We are already looking forward to the next TECH-DAY on 1 June 2028 – entirely in keeping with our company motto:
Shaping the future together! – Ride the future – together!
